Our Vets

Veterinary Surgeon - Owner

Since graduating from Cambridge in 2006, Alex has focused solely on equine veterinary medicine. Having been brought up on a stud farm in Lancashire, it was in his blood. He enjoys all sorts of cases presented to him as a first opinion vet and has a keen interest in orthopaedics, poor performance issues and tricky dental cases.

He is a member of The International Society of Equine Loco-motor Pathology (ISELP) and is currently studying with them to further understand and manage lameness conditions in the equine athlete. In his spare time he enjoys socialising with his friends and family, cooking and the odd game of poker with the guys.

Practice Manager -Owner

She started her career as a Clark on the London Metal Exchange, firstly for Brandeis and then later moved to Refco to take on a Client Liason postion.   Leaving in her mid-twenties to travel South East Asia and Australia.

Having opened her eyes to life outside of commodities, upon her return to the UK she set up a jewellery business importing silver from Thailand and then subsequently set up a gift printing business which was later succesfully franchised.  Asides from the independence of being her own boss, she loved the freedom to indulge in her love of horses once more and there was no going back to the city.

In 2014 Claire and Alex started Fuller Equine, which with the support of their amazing team and lovely clients has grown to a 3 vet practice.

Alongside raising two gorgeous children, she loves socialising with friends, travelling, writing, music events and playing ponies with her daughter.

Insurance Guru - Veterinary Assistant

Her love of horses began at 8 years old when she first learnt to ride but she didn't get into competing seriously until her late 20's.

Alongside a former career in the police she successfully competed her home produced Scoobie and Ludo up to Inter 1 level.

Sophie also has 2 younger horses; Dita who is now progressing nicely under saddle and successfully out there competing and Trixi whom following surgery in 2021 has now stepped up to medium level and qualified for the Winter Regional Finals next year.

She assists the vets out on the road as well as being our inhouse, insurance guru.  With her wealth of knowledge she is a tremendous asset to all of us here at the practice, as well as continuing to offer her own 'Sophie Chatwin Equine Services.
